EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of four years of experience working in a corporate F, P, & A or marketing analyst role.

The successful candidate must:

  • Be able to work independently, be detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and have experience with Power BI.

Class Definition

This position is responsible for working with the accounting, product, and marketing teams and is a new position within the RI Lottery's Finance Department.

This position is responsible for implementing an infrastructure to compile and/or produce reports on product sales, product margins, and competitive metrics, i.e. per capita sales in surrounding states. The position requires creative thinking, the ability to synthesize data and the ability to represent data in clear concise formats, i.e., charts, graphs, PowerPoint presentations etc. This is a hands-on role which requires finance knowledge, communications skills, vision, creative thinking, data analysis, and data manipulation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with pivot tables and Power BI. The position may assist with accounting work.

In this position the successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing methodologies to capture and store financial and competitive metrics on a historical and go-forward basis.
  • Designing and implementing concise reports comparing RI Lottery's product metrics to competitors.
  • Capturing information and reports from the accounting function so that all reporting can be produced in concise manner on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Producing a management reporting package, with analysis, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Insuring data accuracy
  • Identifying and communicating trends within the data.
  • Establishing benchmarks for various products.
  • Completing ad hoc analysis on various metrics/topics as requested.
  • Researching competitive financial and operational reports/websites for the purpose of improving the Lottery's business intelligence capabilities.
  • Interacting with members of the accounting, product, and marketing teams to successfully execute this position's mission.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned by management.
  • This position will be located at the Lottery's headquarters in Cranston, RI.
