Job Description

About PSE Healthy Energy

PSE Healthy Energy (PSE) is an independent science and policy research institute dedicated to generating science-based energy and climate solutions that protect public health and the environment. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and public health professionals conducts research and actionable work across five key practice areas: Clean Energy Transition, Environmental Public Health, Climate, Energy Equity, and Oil and Gas. We design our research around real-world challenges, proactively connecting our audiences with actionable, evidence-based information they can trust.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and mission-driven individual to join our team as a Project Coordinator. This is a full-time, non-exempt role focused on providing administrative, analytical, and coordination support throughout the project lifecycle. This role is critical for ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within scope and budget.

As a Project Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with Senior Project Managers, scientific research leads, and project teams to support various aspects of project execution, including conducting detailed planning during project initiation, tracking progress and key performance indicators across the project lifecycle, and ensuring activities align with organizational and project objectives. You will support the oversight of timely completion of tasks and deliverables, budget monitoring and analysis, as well as foster  effective communication among team members, collaborators, and stakeholders.

If you are successful in this role, you will support key projects across PSE and maintain healthy project operations in collaboration with the rest of the Project Management team. This role offers the opportunity to build and strengthen project coordination skills while making a meaningful contribution to cutting-edge energy and climate research. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative remote environment.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive Project Success: Partner with the Project Management and scientific teams to develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and budgets. Track progress, report on key metrics, anticipate risks, and help resolve issues to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Enable Seamless Collaboration: Facilitate clear communication across teams, lead meeting coordination, document action items, and keep all stakeholders aligned on objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Manage Resources Effectively: Support resource allocation, monitor project expenses against budgets, and maintain well-organized project documentation and records.
  • Support Quality & Compliance: Help ensure projects meet reporting requirements and quality standards. Contribute to project reviews and retrospectives by capturing lessons learned and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Improve Systems & Processes: Assist in refining project management tools, templates, and workflows. Proactively share insights and support updates that enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Take Initiative: Act as a self-starter who identifies opportunities to add value, manages competing priorities with minimal supervision, and contributes enthusiastically to a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 2+ years of experience in project coordination, project analysis, or related administrative support roles (preferably in a fast-paced setting).
  • Strong passion for and/or knowledge of climate, energy, environment, public health, and/or energy policy issues (or a demonstrated eagerness to learn quickly).
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, paired with strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Asana, Google Workspace, Slack) and experience tracking budgets/expenses.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Self-starter mindset comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Commitment to PSE Healthy Energy's mission and values, plus a sense of humor and enthusiasm for impactful work.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Policy, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Prior experience in research, academic, scientific, or nonprofit environments.
  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to boost productivity and coordination.
