Our client is an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services company supporting complex industrial and energy-sector projects. They work closely with utility and infrastructure clients, providing project execution, administrative oversight, and specialized management support across the full project lifecycle. Our client frequently partners with external agencies to supplement staffing needs for large-scale, time-bound projects.

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the successful execution of large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects within the power, energy, and industrial sectors. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership throughout project planning, execution, commissioning, and start-up to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will bring over 20 years of project management experience and a proven track record leading major capital projects.

 

Job Description

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for EPC projects from project initiation through commissioning and start-up.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning personnel.
  • Manage project performance, risks, opportunities, and stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal leadership to support successful project delivery.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, cost control, and resource allocation activities.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to project strategy and execution planning.

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive project management experience in EPC environments.
  • Extensive EPC project management experience within power, energy, refining, petrochemical, chemical, renewable, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as Project Director on at least one refining-type project exceeding $750 million and one project exceeding $300 million.
  • Experience delivering large-scale power, solar, renewable energy, chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute project execution plans.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and contract administration.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with executive leadership, clients, and project teams.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as required.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or equivalent project management credentials preferred.
