As a Project Electrical Engineer/Designer, you will contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for building projects, working closely with architects, engineers, and other consultants. You will apply your technical proficiency to the design, analysis, and documentation of electrical systems, ensuring they meet client expectations, code requirements, and project goals. You will also manage and support smaller electrical projects independently and assist with larger, more complex projects under senior leadership. Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of electrical design solutions, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, and controls systems, from concept through construction documentation.
- Prepare and assist in presenting electrical design concepts, including system layouts, performance analysis, and 3D models using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Easy Power, aGi32 or similar programs.
- Collaborate with project teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and other consultants, to ensure electrical systems integrate seamlessly with architectural and structural designs.
- Produce detailed electrical drawings, including plans, sections, details, and schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform or ability to learn load calculations, coordination studies, arc flash analysis, short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
- Develop technical specifications for electrical systems and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and sustainability goals (e.g., NEC, IESNA, IEEE, LEED).
- Review and coordinate electrical design documents to identify and resolve design conflicts with other building systems.
- Provide support in site visits, inspections, and coordination meetings to verify system installations meet design intent.
- Assist in the coordination of electrical system commissioning, ensuring systems operate as designed.
- Participate in client meetings, assist in presenting electrical design proposals, and support senior team members in managing client relationships.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, electrical design software, and sustainable design practices.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced electrical staff and assist with training and development.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Senior Electrical Engineers or Project Managers.
The Successful Candidate Will Have: - Proven ability to work independently on smaller electrical projects and collaborate effectively on larger projects under supervision.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A solid understanding of electrical systems, building codes, and energy efficiency standards.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in designing electrical systems.
- Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Easy Power or SKM Power Tools, Agi32 or similar).
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to overall project design.
- High initiative and willingness to take on new tasks and learn new technologies.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible office environment with occasional site visits.
