Whether it’s designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking. 

 

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards:

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our Transportation team, a Project Engineer  will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as: 

  • Lead and assist in the design and development of roadway/highway projects, including horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection and interchange design, and ADA compliance
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with Connecticut DOT and local agency standards
  • Perform geometric design, grading, drainage, pavement design, and traffic control planning
  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and engineering analyses as required
  • Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams including traffic, structural, environmental, and survey professionals
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; ensure compliance with contract requirements and regulatory standards
  • Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to provide project updates and resolve technical challenges
  • Mentor junior staff and support business development through proposal preparation and client meetings

What You’ll Need  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – required

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway and highway design

  • Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent design software

  • Strong understanding of AASHTO, MUTCD, and local DOT design standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

     

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering

  • Experience with municipal roadways

  • Familiarity with permitting processes and environmental documentation

  • Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ITE, APWA, etc.)
