Project Engineer 3

Kiewit is seeking a Project Engineer to support high‑voltage transmission line construction and engineering projects across the United States. This role blends field execution with technical engineering oversight, making it ideal for someone who thrives in both environments. The Project Engineer will work closely with construction teams, designers, subcontractors, and utility clients to ensure safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective delivery of transmission projects.
This position may be based in the field or in one of Kiewit's regional offices, with travel expected depending on project needs. Relocation assistance is available.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering - Provide technical support for high‑voltage transmission line construction, including structure foundations, line routing, material specifications, and constructability reviews.
Field Coordination - Work directly with superintendents and craft teams to resolve design issues, interpret drawings, and ensure construction aligns with engineering requirements.
Design Interface - Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams on transmission line design packages, including PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, SAG‑TENSION, and civil/structural deliverables.
Quality Assurance - Support QA/QC processes, review submittals, verify material compliance, and ensure adherence to Kiewit and client standards.
Scheduling & Planning - Assist in developing project schedules, work plans, and sequencing for transmission line construction activities.
Cost Control - Track quantities, monitor budgets, support forecasting, and contribute to cost‑saving initiatives.
Safety Leadership - Promote Kiewit's safety culture, participate in field audits, and help implement safe work procedures.
Stakeholder Communication - Interface with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2-6+ years of experience supporting high‑voltage transmission, substation, or power delivery projects (construction or engineering).
Understanding of transmission line components, foundations, structure types, and construction methods.
Experience with tools such as PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE, SAG10, AutoCAD, or similar platforms is a plus.
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and field‑coordination skills.
Willingness to work in the field and travel as required.
Ability to relocate for project assignments (relocation assistance provided).
