Job Description:


Project Engineer


Role Summary:


Lead engineering efforts in the new product development, design and implementation of one or multiple new product platforms in a cross functional environment. Duties include but not limited to overseeing the design, schedule, prototyping, testing and the launch of a new product -- per an agreed product definition and business plan. Translate input from product marketing and consumers into new product designs and specifications working with the Design Engineers, Test lab, and other team members to deliver the project to the business.


Essential Responsibilities:


· Responsible for engineering, design, development and implementation of new products and life cycle management activities of existing products.


· Coordinate design tasks between internal and external ID and design teams.


· Work with the NPD Leader to compile engineering product development schedule and making sure that key engineering deliverables, quality, performance and cost targets are met.


· Establish test plans on each product design with the help of the product test engineer.


· Ensure approval with UL, CSA and other safety agencies with the help of the agency engineer.


· Assist the laboratory with preparation of test units and the analysis of test results.


· Work with TTI manufacturing plants and OEMs to ensure that products are constructed properly, that components, assemblies and products are manufacturable and conform to the performance standards.


· Use Creo PTC software along with prototyping skills to lead the pre-development concept phase of the project.


· Create breadboard models, refine proof of concept prototypes and complete assembly layouts.


· Test and troubleshoot in the lab.


· Team with Industrial Designers and Marketing Team to deliver products that maintain cosmetic intent while meeting all functional requirements.


· Other Duties as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:


· Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering required


· Minimum 3 years’ experience in new product development team environment and 3D part design and model building.


· Minimum 2 years’ experience in plastic part design and electromechanical product design/testing experience


· Engineering work experience in new product development setting required.


· Creo experience preferred


· Technical background and worked as member of cross-functional product teams.


· Experience with plastic part design and molding constraints.


· Background in electromechanical product design.


· Able to work effectively with internal and external resources including Asian team members.


· Ability to manage time between multiple projects.


· Able to convey technical concepts effectively through both written and verbal communication.


· Organized. Attention to detail.


· PC literate in Microsoft Office


· Creative yet practical in problem solving.


· Positive approach. Team player. High integrity. Takes Ownership. Action oriented. Dependable.


· Experience in FMEA product analysis.


· Experience in the hands-on assembly of prototypes, products and disassembly of competitive products


· Overseas travel required (approximately 2-3 times/year, up to 3 weeks at a time) to attend OEM pilot builds, vendor evaluations, etc.
