Walker White Mechanical is looking for an ambitious Project Engineer to join our growing team in Columbia, SC. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated professional who wants to build a long-term career in mechanical construction and develop into a Project Manager within 2–3 years.
As a Project Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience working directly with project teams, field operations, and company leadership. Through structured training, mentorship, and real-world project involvement, you'll develop the technical, operational, and leadership skills needed to advance your career in the construction industry.

What You'll Do
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to support active mechanical construction projects
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and cost tracking
- Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project documentation
- Gain hands-on exposure to HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems
- Support jobsite operations and help solve field-related challenges
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely communication among stakeholders
- Develop leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills through mentorship and training
- Follow a defined career development path designed to prepare you for a Project Manager role
What We're Looking For
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in both office and field environments
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Interest in building a long-term career in mechanical construction
- Willingness to spend 12–18 months in the field gaining firsthand operational experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- Recent graduates and candidates with early career experience are encouraged to apply
