Project Engineer – Commercial Drywall

A well-established commercial construction contractor is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support commercial drywall and interior systems projects from preconstruction through closeout.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their construction career who wants hands-on exposure to project management, estimating, field coordination, and commercial operations while developing toward increased project responsibility.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience in commercial construction, drywall, interiors, specialty contracting, or a related field
• Understanding of commercial construction processes and project documentation
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project plans
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working with project management software and construction technology
• Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, field teams, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors

Preferred

• 2+ years of commercial construction experience
• Previous experience with commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, or interior systems
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, OST, Quick Bid, PlanSwift, or similar software
• Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project scheduling
• Exposure to estimating, takeoffs, or cost tracking

Responsibilities:

• Support Project Managers with commercial drywall projects from turnover through closeout
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation
• Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and material documentation
• Assist with project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
• Coordinate materials, equipment, deliveries, vendors, and field requirements
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, estimating, and pricing as needed
• Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
• Communicate with general contractors, vendors, field teams, and internal leadership
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and project closeout
• Identify potential scope, schedule, or coordination issues and communicate them to project leadership

• Competitive base salary: $60,000 – $80,000+ (depending on experience and market)
