Role Overview

The Project Engineer supports Project Managers with planning, coordination, documentation, procurement, field support, and closeout for commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects. This is an entry-level position on the project management career path and is ideal for someone building a career in mechanical construction, plumbing, HVAC, or project delivery.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with planning and execution of commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, schedules, and contract documents.
• Maintain logs and documentation for RFIs, submittals, drawings, meeting notes, change items, and closeout requirements.
• Support material procurement, purchase orders, delivery tracking, equipment coordination, and vendor communication.
• Assist with change orders, billing backup, schedule updates, cost tracking, and project reporting.
• Coordinate with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, vendors, superintendents, foremen, and internal operations teams.
• Attend jobsite, progress, coordination, and preconstruction meetings.
• Visit active jobsites to support field coordination, progress tracking, issue resolution, safety, and quality efforts.
• Identify design conflicts, scope gaps, schedule risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Build professional relationships with customers, trade partners, and internal teams.
  

Required Background

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• 0 to 2+ years of relevant commercial construction, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or project coordination experience
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings
• Strong organization, communication, follow-through, and task management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
• Willingness to spend time in the field and support jobsite activities
• Commercial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, or construction internship or field experience is a plus
