Our client is a well-established heavy civil contractor specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects throughout Texas. They are seeking a Project Engineer to support operations on a major project in the Houston area throughout the week. This role is based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex but requires travel to Houston for the remainder of the project.
The company provides company-paid lodging, meals, a company truck, and a gas card while working away from home.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience on impactful infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced project managers and field leadership.
Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project execution.
Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field crews.
Monitor project schedules and help ensure milestones are achieved.
Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Assist with quantity tracking, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
Support procurement activities and material deliveries.
Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes.
Ensure project documentation is complete and organized.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on all job sites.
Build strong working relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
2+ years of construction experience (internships and co-ops considered).
Experience with heavy civil projects preferred, including:
Highways
Bridges
Underground utilities
Earthwork
Site development
Concrete structures
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Procore, HCSS, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
Willingness to travel and work on projects throughout Texas.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $70,000 – $95,000
