Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer to work in our Houston, TX office.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform municipal engineering tasks, including the design of capital improvement projects.
  • Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, public bid documents, construction cost estimates, and associated construction documents.
  • Evaluate public works issues for municipalities and develop engineering recommendations or solutions as needed.
  • Address and resolve resident inquiries and complaints related to municipal engineering matters.
  • Manage capital improvement project tasks, including monitoring schedules, budgets, and compliance with project deadlines.
  • Review state regulations, municipal ordinances, and applicable agency requirements to determine land development limitations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including utility research and review of relevant ordinances and technical information.
  • Design stormwater management systems and ensure compliance with county, soil conservation district, and state regulations.
  • Prepare grading designs and perform earthwork analysis to support site development and ensure safe and feasible design slopes.
  • Design utility systems, including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer, water distribution, and park/recreation infrastructure; identify and resolve horizontal and vertical utility conflicts.
  • Develop soil erosion and sediment control plans, including best management practices (BMPs), swale design, and construction sequencing.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and supporting documentation required for municipal and regulatory review.
  • Coordinate with clients, municipal officials, contractors, and multidisciplinary team members throughout project development and implementation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field
  • Texas PE license
  • Req. 2 y. exp. as a Civil Engineer working on municipal projects, as well as the following:
    o 2 y. exp. using AutoCAD for drafting, design preparation, and technical detailing.
    o 2 y. exp. using Civil 3D for civil design, modeling, grading, and plan production.
    o 2 y. exp. performing engineering calculations, analyses, and design evaluations.
    o 2 y. exp. preparing construction documents, technical drawings, and design reports.
    o 2 y. exp. interpreting survey data, topographic information, and site constraints.
