Gonzalez Companies is a partner-managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning Design and Construction Management Services to large and small Water Sewer and Utility Districts Departments of Transportation and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer III - WaterWastewater to help serve our connection of clients and community. The projected range of compensation in Illinois for this job is $70,000 - $80,000.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, and specifications under guidance from senior engineers.
- Perform hydraulic modeling for water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and occasional construction observation.
- Support project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and proposals.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate project design elements.
- Review design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting needs.
- Participate in client and internal project meetings, communicate technical information clearly.
- Support quality control processes and ensure adherence to company and industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field.
- EIEIT certification required or ability to obtain within 12 months. PE track preferred.
- 0-4 years of experience in water/wastewater design, permitting, or construction support.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling tools (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, SWMM, etc.).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or Civil 3D, experience with BIM/Revit is a plus.
- Basic understanding of pump systems, process equipment, and utility design.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
