Our client is a growing, specialty commercial contractor seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of complex commercial and advanced infrastructure construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Working directly alongside company leadership, this individual assists in driving projects from initial award through final closeout.
This role offers a distinct, accelerated growth path, providing comprehensive exposure to procurement, scheduling, field operations, and client communication within a highly technical construction sector.
Project Oversight: Assist in managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously, tracking project schedules, critical milestones, and action items.
Documentation Control: Maintain rigid project documentation systems; log and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and quality control punch lists.
Financial & Procurement Support: Monitor project budgets, assist with detailed cost tracking, support procurement activities, and coordinate material delivery logistics.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a central communication link between project managers, field superintendents, specialized subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Administrative Flow: Prepare precise meeting minutes, structural project reports, and schedule updates. Coordinate equipment rentals and specialized project travel logistics.
Compliance: Maintain strict compliance records and mandatory site safety documentation.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field (Equivalent hands-on construction experience will be fully considered).
2-5 years of commercial construction experience, preferably acting as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager.
Proven ability to read, interpret, and accurately analyze architectural and construction drawings.
Technical Skills & Tools:
Proficiency with standard productivity tools (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word).
Direct experience or strong familiarity with modern construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar).
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
Prior experience working directly for a General Contractor or commercial specialty subcontractor.
Background or strong interest in commercial, industrial, or highly technical infrastructure environments.
Proactive, highly organized communicator who is comfortable collaborating directly with field teams and clients alike.
Mobility: Approximately 10–20% regional travel is required, including occasional overnight stays to support active field operations and project sites across the Mid-Atlantic.
