Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer will manage technology and integration projects, ensuring successful delivery of solutions that meet defined project goals. This role works directly with external equipment vendors, customers, and partners, and requires a strong understanding of design approaches and industry technologies used in fulfillment and distribution center designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage technology and integration projects from initiation through completion, ensuring all project goals, timelines, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate and oversee engineering activities related to equipment installation and commissioning within fulfillment and distribution centers.
- Collaborate with external equipment vendors, customers, and partners to define project requirements and deliver integrated automation solutions.
- Manage material-handling equipment implementation, including planning, installation, and performance verification.
- Directly manage and take responsibility for cumulative automation project budgets ranging from 0.5 million to 50 million, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
- Provide technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects, guiding design decisions and implementation strategies.
- Design and implement integrated automation solutions, including complex material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, and manufacturing lines.
- Develop and refine integrated automation layouts using CAD tools, ensuring efficient, safe, and scalable designs.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Project, and Outlook to plan, track, and communicate project progress and deliverables.
- Engage in vendor management activities, including coordination, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Support construction management activities related to automation and material-handling equipment installations.
- Conduct throughput qualification (TQ) or similar performance validation activities to ensure systems meet operational requirements.
- Travel regularly to installation sites to oversee on-site activities, resolve technical issues, and ensure successful commissioning of equipment and systems.
Essential Skills
- 4+ years of experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or in a closely related occupation.
- Hands-on project management and project engineering experience in technology or integration projects.
- Experience in vendor management, particularly with external equipment vendors and partners.
- Experience in engineering equipment installation and commissioning within industrial or distribution environments.
- Experience in construction management related to engineering and automation projects.
- Background in engineering and material-handling equipment implementation.
- Direct management responsibility for cumulative automation project budgets ranging from 0.5 million to 50 million.
- Proven technical leadership on large-scale industrial engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and/or implementing integrated automation solutions, including complex material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, and manufacturing lines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Project, and Outlook.
- Highly proficient CAD skills, with the ability to independently develop integrated automation layouts.
- Ability to travel extensively to installation sites throughout North America.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with throughput qualification (TQ) or similar performance and capacity validation processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to industrial and automation projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
Work Environment
This role involves a highly travel-focused work environment, with the ability to travel up to approximately 75-90% of the time to installation sites throughout the United States and North America. Team members typically fly to the project site on Monday morning, remain on-site during the week to oversee installation and commissioning activities, and return home on Friday afternoon. Occasionally, individuals may choose to stay over the weekend, depending on project needs and personal preference. Work is primarily performed at customer facilities, fulfillment centers, and distribution centers, where advanced material-handling equipment and integrated automation systems are being installed and tested. The environment is fast-paced and project-driven, requiring adaptability, frequent collaboration with on-site teams and vendors, and comfort working around industrial equipment and construction activities. Standard business attire suitable for professional interactions and site visits is expected, with appropriate safety gear used as required by each facility.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
