We foster a collaborative environment where curiosity, innovation, and professional growth are encouraged.This position plays an important role in delivering high-quality design solutions while supporting project execution, technical excellence, and client relationships.The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, mechanical and civil engineers, technicians, and municipal clients to deliver projects from planning and design through construction support while ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and schedule performance.Responsibilities Mechanical Engineering Design Support the planning and design of wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and municipal pumping systemsPerform and review engineering calculations, hydraulic evaluations, and equipment sizing for mechanical systemsDevelop mechanical layouts, equipment specifications, and construction documentsAssist with the preparation of design reports, technical memoranda, and regulatory documentationCoordinate mechanical system integration with civil, electrical, and structural design teamsProject Execution Lead assigned project tasks and technical components with minimal oversightMonitor scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned project tasks and communicate progress with project leadershipCoordinate work performed by technicians and junior staff to ensure consistency and qualityPrepare construction specifications, cost estimates, and engineering documentationSupport construction phase services including responding to contractor questions and reviewing submittalsField Work & Construction Support Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observationReview construction progress and verify compliance with design plans and specificationsDocument field observations and assist in resolving technical issues during constructionSupport commissioning and startup activities for mechanical systems when applicableCollaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with Project Managers and internal teams to ensure project goals are achievedParticipate in client meetings and technical discussions related to project deliverablesMentor junior staff and support their professional developmentContribute to proposal development and project pursuitsIdentify opportunities to improve engineering processes, design standards, and project workflowsQualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programExperience 4+ years of relevant post-graduate engineering experienceExperience supporting municipal infrastructure or water/wastewater projectsExperience with engineering design software, CADD/BIM tools, and hydraulic or process modeling systems preferredSkills Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and municipal infrastructure systemsExperience preparing technical reports, construction documents, and specificationsAbility to coordinate technical work across multidisciplinary project teamsStrong problem-solving, organization, and project management skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsLicensure Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredMulti-state licensure may be required based on project assignmentsBenefits Salary range: $79,000 to $126,500 , with higher compensation possible for candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) – company shares at no cost.401(k) Retirement Plan – generous employer match that is immediately 100% vested .Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance for employees and eligible dependents.Paid Time Off – minimum of 17 days in the first year .Paid Holidays – 8 holidays annually .Paid Parental Leave – 2 weeks for both parents , with additional paid leave for birth parents.Life, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage.Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) – annual performance-based bonus opportunity.Equal Opportunity Employer MSA is an Equal Opportunity Employer .
