Position Title: Project Engineer
Location: New Orleans, LA
Duration: Fulltime Direct Hire Role
Pay: $100K - 110K/Annum + benefits

 
Position Summary
  • Under the supervision of the Project Lead, the Project Engineer is responsible for the complete design and implementation of industrial control system projects in accordance with customer specifications and industry requirements.
  • This position is responsible for the technical execution of assigned projects and will assist with development of project schedules, budgets, and timelines.
  • The Project Engineer will develop and execute control system solutions, coordinate with clients and vendors, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality control systems for power generation, oil & gas, and other industrial process industries.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop I/O lists, Cause & Effect Diagrams, control system panel designs, network architectures, electrical schematics, mechanical designs, calculations, and other technical documentation as required by project scope.
  • Configure, program, and test PLC/HMI applications to ensure safe and reliable system operation.
  • Select and procure control system materials, including field instrumentation and electrical equipment; review vendor data to ensure specifications and project requirements are met.
  • Prepare project documentation, including Factory and Site Acceptance Test Protocols (FAT/SAT), Operations Manuals, and Functional Design Specifications.
  • Perform FATs/SATs to demonstrate hardware and software compliance to customer and project specifications.
  • Develop and implement customer training programs to ensure proper system operation and maintenance.
  • Interface effectively with engineering functions, project management, procurement, sales/applications, panel shop, and field personnel.
  • Participate in project meetings and represent Client’s in technical discussions with customers and vendors.
  • Support loop checks and assist with system startup and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including change orders, test reports, and operational documentation.
  • Promote safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project execution.
  • Support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving during project execution.
 
Job Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering roles related to control systems.
  • Recent college graduates with strong internships or co-op experience in a relevant engineering or process role will be considered.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
 
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of control and instrumentation systems, PLC programming, HMI configuration, electrical schematics, and network architectures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and vendor data.
  • Proficiency with control system configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, industry best practices, and quality systems.
 
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with turbines, compressors, or rotating machinery control systems.
  • Certifications in control systems, project management, or relevant technical areas are a plus.
  • Knowledge of energy industry standards and best practices. Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May provide guidance to junior engineers or technical staff involved in projects.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% for troubleshooting, commissioning, and client support.
 
Working Conditions
