Overview:
Senior level operational professional, typically site based. Responsibilities include support of all phases of
project activities on medium (USD100MM) projects,
including variety of scopes that include engineering, procurement, and construction. A Project Engineer (Ops)
is considered a Junior Level Project Manager but does not have profit and loss (P&L) accountability. This
position is a Professional (Degreed) role and may have supervisory responsibility. The role typically reports to
Project or Operations Management.
Responsibilities:
- The Project Engineer (Ops.) is distinguished from a Project Engineer (Eng.) as it is a Project Management role
- The Project Engineer provides technical support to coordinate engineering, procurement and construction deliverables during all project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements and specified engineering standards
- Formulating and coordination of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones
- May be responsible for client or customer reporting requirements and client operational interactions
- Delivery of the various engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and start-up aspects of a project(s)
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Programs, such as Lessons Learned and other programs which support achievement of quality and project goals
- Ensure that items are installed as per latest project specifications and drawings, meeting quality, cost and time constraints
- Monitor progress and schedule performance, and identify problems in respect to budget schedules, engineering standards, working directly with Project Controls
- Investigate and follow-up on technical queries with the technical services groups
- Provide technical and quality assistance to Construction Supervisors and Field crews.
- Identify and interpret material specifications and provide technical support to supply chain to support project schedules
- Ensure work undertaken complies with scope and meets operational requirements. Obtain appropriate approvals of and documenting calculations, specifications, variations etc.
- Responsible for supporting construction progress on site including personnel, equipment, subcontractors, tools and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Typically 8-10+ years since first degree and 8+ years relevant experience in Project Engineering, Construction Management or Project Controls
- 2+ Yrs. Engineering preferred
- Professional Degree (Engineering or other Technical BS Required)
