The Licensed Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, managing, and overseeing civil engineering projects from proposal through construction. The position provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensures project objectives are achieved within scope, schedule, and budget, and serves as the Engineer of Record. The Licensed Civil Engineer also supports business development efforts, mentors technical staff, and maintains strong client relationships.
Engineering
• Design civil infrastructure projects including water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater management, roadway design and improvements, grading, drainage, utility systems, and site development.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Develop construction documents utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, design standards, and client requirements.
• Review and approve engineering documents for technical accuracy and quality.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and seal engineering documents as required by state licensing regulations.
Project Management
• Manage multiple engineering projects from project initiation through completion.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans. Coordinate project activities with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, surveyors, and internal staff.
• Monitor project progress, resource utilization, and financial performance.
• Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
• Prepare project status reports and communicate progress to management and clients.
Construction Support
• Provide construction administration services, including review of shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, contractor pay applications, and field observations.
• Evaluate construction issues and recommend engineering solutions.
• Assist clients and contractors in resolving technical questions during construction.
Leadership
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technical personnel.
• Review work products prepared by junior staff to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
• Promote collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development within the engineering team.
Client Relations and Business Development
• Maintain professional relationships with clients, public officials, regulatory agencies, and business partners.
• Participate in project meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
• Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for additional engineering services.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
• Comply with all company policies, Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, and safety requirements.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.
• Promote a safe work environment and adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
