About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with expertise in structural steel and heavy civil construction to support large-scale infrastructure projects across New York City.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering complex projects—including bridges, tunnels, transit systems, and other public works—by coordinating engineering efforts, troubleshooting technical challenges, and ensuring alignment between design, fabrication, and field execution.

What You'll Do

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and structural steel projects
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and subcontractors to resolve design and constructability issues
  • Review and coordinate drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Provide engineering support for steel fabrication, welding, and erection activities
  • Assist in managing project schedules, priorities, and deliverables
  • Identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Support communication between project teams, stakeholders, and leadership
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, codes, and safety requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Engineer on heavy civil or infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience with structural steel systems, including fabrication, welding, and erection
  • Experience on projects valued at $100M+
  • Background working with a large general contractor
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., AISC, AWS, Eurocodes)
  • Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • Tekla Structures
    • STAAD.Pro (or similar)
  • Familiarity with BIM and construction management software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • PMP certification or Structural Engineering license
  • Experience with bridges, tunnels, mass transit, or other public infrastructure projects

Why Join Us

  • Work on high-impact infrastructure projects that shape New York City
  • Join a leading construction team with a strong reputation in heavy civil work
  • Gain exposure to complex steel structures and large-scale builds
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • Opportunities for long-term growth and career advancement

Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally based on project needs
