    Are you a seasoned Civil Engineer ready to step out of the "production lane" and into a leadership role? We are looking for a Project Engineer – Transportation who is ready for a high degree of autonomy and a clear path toward management.In this role, you won't just be designing roads; you'll be managing the resources, budgets, and people that build Maryland's future. This is a hybrid/mostly remote position designed for a self-starter who values flexibility and is looking for a long‑term home with significant upward mobility.The Impact You'll MakeProject Ownership: Lead highway and roadway engineering designs from initial scoping and proposals through to completion.Strategic Management: Handle resource allocation and budgeting to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.Liaison & Leadership: Serve as a key point of contact for the MDOT State Highway Administration, ensuring all designs meet or exceed their specific standards and guidelines.Mentorship (Preferred): Help shape the next generation of engineers by guiding and mentoring junior staff.The Toolkit (Requirements)Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.Credentials: Licensed Maryland Professional Engineer (PE).Experience: Minimum of 6 years in highway/roadway engineering design.Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads.Agency Expertise: Demonstrated experience working with MDOT SHA standards and guidelines.Project Management: Proven ability to manage scoping, proposals, and project budgets independently.The Extras (Preferred)Experience with VA and DC jurisdictional standards.Expertise in Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) designs.A track record of developing successful technical proposals.Why This Role is DifferentClear Advancement: This isn't a "dead‑end" desk job.
