Location: Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, Blythewood, Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Moncks Corner, SC area(s)Reports To: Department Manager / Group LeaderStatus: Full-Time, Non-ExemptPosition OverviewAs a Special Inspections Technician I for Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will work under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer. You will collaborate with site managers and engineers to perform inspection and sampling services, including but not limited to onsite testing and reporting of earthwork, soil construction, foundation/subgrade evaluation, reinforcing steel, concrete placements, masonry, and asphalt testing. Special Inspections Technicians collect concrete, soil, and other site materials, monitor general contractor activities, and accurately prepare daily reports that include test results, construction site observations, and detailed findings.QualificationsMust be at least eighteen (18) years of age.High School Diploma or General Education (GED).Valid Driver's License with a clean motor vehicle driving history (3 years).Ability to work outdoors on a construction site in all seasons and weather conditions for extended periods of time.Self‑motivated, able to work independently while completing scheduled tasks.Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with team members, BLE leadership, clients, local, state, and federal authorities.Detail‑oriented and time‑conscious.Basic knowledge of smartphones and computers for communication and record keeping (MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, lift (up to 50 pounds), tug, and pull on unstable, unpaved ground.All newly employed Special Inspection Technicians are mandated to acquire the Special Inspector General Requirements Certification and three additional certifications within two years: Reinforced Concrete (Code 47C), Structural Masonry (Code 84C), and Soils (Code ECC).Preferred QualificationsTwo years of previous construction materials inspection experience.Industry‑certified inspector.This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and is not a comprehensive list of all duties, functions, or procedures that may be required.
