JOB DESCRIPTION

A well-established structural steel erector in the Midwest is seeking an experienced Project Executive to join their leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a respected organization with a strong reputation for delivering complex commercial and industrial structural steel projects while maintaining long-term client relationships and operational excellence.

This organization offers the stability of an established contractor combined with the opportunity to influence project strategy, mentor project teams, and drive execution across multiple active projects. They are seeking a proven construction leader who can oversee project performance from preconstruction through closeout while supporting growth, profitability, and client satisfaction.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide executive-level oversight of multiple structural steel erection projects simultaneously

  • Lead project teams to ensure successful execution related to schedule, budget, safety, and quality

  • Serve as the primary executive contact for owners, general contractors, and key stakeholders

  • Support preconstruction planning, staffing strategy, and project startup activities

  • Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability objectives

  • Review contracts, major change orders, risk exposure, and project commitments

  • Partner with Project Managers and Operations leadership to improve project outcomes

  • Develop and implement project controls, reporting standards, and operational best practices

  • Resolve escalated project issues and drive timely decision making

  • Support business development efforts and strengthen existing client relationships

  • Participate in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and operational leadership discussions

  • Mentor and develop Project Managers and emerging leaders within the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of Project Management, Operations, or Project Executive experience within structural steel construction

  • Direct experience overseeing commercial and/or industrial structural steel fabrication and erection projects

  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects and project teams

  • Strong understanding of contracts, forecasting, cost controls, scheduling, and risk management

  • Experience leading large project portfolios and maintaining financial accountability

  • Ability to build relationships with owners, general contractors, and internal operations teams

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction/project management software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience overseeing projects exceeding $20M in structural steel scope

  • Background leading teams across multiple project locations

  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Tekla, FabTrol, StruMIS, or similar platforms

  • Operational leadership experience supporting growth initiatives and process improvement

  • Exposure to complex commercial and industrial construction environments

COMPENSATION:

  • Base Salary: $125,000–$150,000 DOE

  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
