Description:
  • In this vital role within the Precision Medicine Unit, the Precision Medicine Program Manager (PM) works closely with the Precision Medicine Leads (PMLs) and Global Biomarker Leads (GBLs) to advance the development and execution of Precision Medicine plans. Additionally, you will partner with cross functional senior stakeholders and teams across Research & Development to track and manage the development of translational and reverse translational strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main collaborator of the PMed Teams by supporting the strategic planning, monitor the execution of high quality, integrated cross-functional PMed Plans in support of the overall asset strategy & value.
  • Manage research collaborations and reverse translational initiatives in collaboration with the research and development organization along with any external collaborators identified.
  • Responsible for developing the PMED budget for each program and monitoring team expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Accountable for creating and maintaining execution timelines to track team progress and promptly identify any deviations from the approved plan.
  • Lead PMT meetings, ensuring that agendas are clearly defined, meeting minutes are accurately recorded, and outcomes are effectively reflected in both the timeline and budget.
  • Work closely with the Head of PMO Team to escalate any risks/issues and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as single point of contact for operationalizing biomarker strategy, facilitating with other cross functional stakeholders like biospecimen management, data management, vendor management etc., associated with one or more clinical programs.
  • Apply PM best practices in the planning, development, initiation, execution, QA/QC, and closing of projects while driving trade-off / decision making to ensure flawless execution
  • Support content creation with PML and Head of PMO in preparation to cross-functional meetings, such as technical reviews, Portal Reviews, Governances, etc.
  • Serve as an integrator to the Product Teams/Clinical Study Teams while ensuring connectivity with (inputs to/from) research leadership, early clinical and platform functions 
  • Drive risk management and effective communication plans, to include asset-wide impacts
  • Conduct critical path analysis (challenging assumptions, hold cross-functional team members accountable); recognize and communicate inflection points w/ mitigation strategies
  • Ensure on time delivery; drive adherence to plan (time, budget and scope); challenge delays with ‘why not’ and propose mitigations; quickly escalate changes to plan
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and pivot quickly with changes in scientific or strategic assumptions based on internal / external data impacting the program
  • Meeting effectiveness, MS Teams/Smartsheet maintenance, proper and timely escalation of issues to Head of Discovery Biomarkers and PMO

Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD and/or Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant PM experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant PM experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 6 years of relevant PM experience
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical / scientific background with 6+ years industry and/or academic experience
  • Prior pharma / consulting and/or drug development experience, specifically in research & clinical development
  • Program and project management skills with experience in a healthcare-related environment, operationalizing strategic initiatives, including cross-functional strategic planning, development of integrated plans, monitoring and driving execution to plan
  • Emotional intelligence skills including influencing without authority and navigating within a matrix environment.
  • Experience using Project Management and AI/ML tools, methodologies, practices and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry
  • Highly experienced on MS Suite tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and project management software such as Smartsheet, Planisware, SharePoint, etc.
  • Finance and budget management experience
  • Business process and systems management, Project planning and management (PMP preferred)
  • Knowledge of SOPs, good clinical practices and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate others in a complex, multi-functional matrix environment
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills
 Basic Qualifications:      
  • Doctorate degree or
  • Masters degree and 2 years of experience or
  • Bachelors degree and 4 years of experience or
  • Associates degree and 8 years of experience or
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience.
 Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets:
  • Clinical development and scientific foundation
  • Strong clinical operations experience within biotech/pharma, supported by a scientific background. Able to understand biomarker, translational, and clinical-development activities and translate scientific strategy into practical execution plans.

  • Highly motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates a “can-do” mindset, takes ownership of complex or unfamiliar work, anticipates risks, and drives timelines, deliverables, budgets, and follow-up actions to completion.

  • Positive, eager-to-learn team contributor who communicates clearly and works effectively across functions. Comfortable influencing without direct authority, coordinating diverse stakeholders, and adapting quickly as program priorities or scientific assumptions evolve.
 Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate Precision Medicine Team (PMT) meetings and Biomarker Technical Operations Meetings (BTOMs), including agendas, minutes, action tracking, and follow-up on key decisions.
  • Partner closely with PMed Leads and Global Biomarker Leads to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational issues affecting program execution.
  • Maintain the PMed Lite tool for assigned programs, ensuring program milestones, risks, actions, decisions, timelines, and resource needs are current and accurately reflected.
  • Develop and manage integrated Precision Medicine plans, including timelines, critical-path activities, dependencies, and deliverables across research, clinical, biomarker, data, and operational functions.
  • Track progress against plan, proactively identify delays or risks, facilitate mitigation plans, and escalate significant issues to PMed leadership and the PMO.
  • Serve as the operational point of contact for biomarker strategy execution, coordinating with biospecimen management, data management, clinical operations, vendors, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Support preparation of program updates, governance materials, technical-review content, and leadership presentations with PMed Leads and Global Biomarker Leads.
  • Monitor program budgets, forecast expenses, and support financial planning for biomarker activities, external collaborations, and vendor work.
  • Manage operational aspects of external research collaborations, including timelines, deliverables, meetings, data transfers, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure clear communication across Product Teams, Clinical Study Teams, PMed, and Research so that program decisions, changes, and impacts are understood and acted upon.
  • Maintain core project-management documentation and systems, including Smartsheet, SharePoint, Teams, and program trackers.
  • Help drive continuous improvement in team processes, meeting effectiveness, and use of planning tools while serving as a dependable, proactive contributor across the portfolio.
