A vacancy has arisen to join Shafton Steel Services (Shafton) as a General Operative

Hours of work: 40 per week

The Company

Shafton Steel Services offer a wide range of steel products, manufactured in a large state of the art, independent steel services and processing centre.

We continue to invest in the leading technology for cutting, drilling, profiling, shotblasting and priming equipment, ensuring we manufacture high quality products whilst meeting the demands of the construction and engineering industry. Our steel is fully processed up to and including execution class 4 in UKCA Marking.

Role Purpose

We are looking to recruit a General Operative responsible for the following...

• • Days & Afters Rotation (Days: 6am to 3pm (Mon to Thurs) & 6am to 12:30pm (Fri) Afters: 3pm to 12am (Mon to Thurs) & 12:30pm to 7pm (Fri)
• • Operating CNC profile machines
• • Operating overhead cranes, fork trucks
• • Stock control and picking of allocated steel plate

Role Responsibilities

• • Cleaning and general housekeeping
• • Handling and transporting heavy lifts
• • Able to work independently
• • Working effectively as part of a team to meet deadlines
• • Ensuring all work complies with relevant health and safety legislation
• • Stock control
• • CNC plasma and gas machine operation
• • Ensuring quality controls are adhered to

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• • Skills: Ability to follow instructions, perform physical tasks, and use tools and equipment safely
• • Safety: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• • Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• • Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability
• • CNC profile machine background
• • Use of OHC and mobile plant advantageous
