Project Manager - Automation

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead technical projects from initial planning and engineering through procurement, production, testing, delivery, field execution, and closeout. Based in Orlando, Florida, this position will coordinate engineering, operations, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders while maintaining ownership of scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and project deliverables.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of project management experience within an engineering or technical environment and has managed projects involving the development and delivery of engineered systems or equipment. Experience within power generation is highly valued, but candidates from industrial automation, control systems, systems integration, or other engineered-product environments will also be considered. The strongest candidates will understand how engineering, procurement, production, testing, and field activities interact throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical projects throughout the full lifecycle, including planning, engineering coordination, procurement, production, testing, delivery, field execution, and closeout.
• Develop and maintain project scopes, objectives, schedules, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and deliverables while identifying and resolving issues that could affect successful execution.
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering, procurement, production, operations, field, supplier, and customer activities to maintain alignment throughout each project.
• Monitor project financial and operational performance, including schedule adherence, budget status, resource requirements, risks, changes, and outstanding deliverables.
• Manage customer expectations and communications by providing clear updates regarding project status, schedules, milestones, technical requirements, risks, and deliverables.
• Identify project risks and resource constraints, develop mitigation plans, and coordinate corrective actions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings, maintain appropriate documentation and reporting, and ensure projects follow established project management and execution processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of project management experience within a technical, engineering, automation, controls, engineered systems, power generation, or comparable environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing technical projects involving multiple phases of the project lifecycle, with meaningful exposure to engineering/design, procurement, production or system build, testing, and delivery or field execution.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical and operational teams while managing schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and customer expectations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously and identify dependencies among engineering, operations, commercial requirements, and project execution.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
• Strong technical communication and customer-facing skills, including the ability to communicate project requirements, status, risks, and deliverables across technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to customer and project sites domestically and internationally based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing power generation, industrial automation, control systems, systems integration, or other engineered equipment or system projects.
• Experience with industrial control or automation projects involving the design, engineering, procurement, production, testing, and delivery of integrated systems.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, a technical discipline, project management, business management, or a related field.
• PMP, CAPM, or comparable project management certification.
• Familiarity with EPC contract structures.
