Contract Length: 12 months, with potential extension and FTE conversion
Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
Work Setup: Hybrid Tuesday through Thursday in office, Monday and Friday remote, with occasional field visits
Schedule: 8-hour workday; core hours 9:00 AM 3:00 PM

Client is seeking an experienced Project Manager BESS to support utility infrastructure projects, initially focused on completing two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations. This role provides full lifecycle project management and will transition to additional utility and power quality meter projects over time.

Project Manager BESS Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle project management for two BESS installation projects, from planning through completion.
• Manage project schedules, deliverables, stakeholders, risks, and overall execution.
• Coordinate utility project activities and occasional field visits while partnering with technical teams; this role does not perform technical BESS commissioning.
• Support additional utility infrastructure and power quality meter projects as business needs evolve.
• Collaborate with a team of approximately 12 Project Managers supporting utility initiatives.

Project Manager BESS Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience preferred.
• Experience supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects; utility or data center BESS experience is highly valued.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder management, organization, communication, and project execution skills.
• Local candidate able to meet the hybrid and field-visit requirements.

Project Manager BESS Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification preferred, but not required.
• Bachelor s degree preferred, but relevant professional experience will be prioritized.
• Previous utility industry experience is preferred.
