Project Manager
The City of Benicia is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to join our dynamic Public Works Department. Under limited supervision, this position plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and managing a diverse portfolio of public works projects-from general infrastructure improvements and utility-related projects to complex coastal development, stabilization and enhancements. The Project Manager works closely with department heads, consultants, contractors, and the public to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. Distinguishing Characteristics
Under limited supervision, plans, coordinates, administers and manages multiple projects as assigned, including but not limited to Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and highly responsible and complex specialized projects; leads and oversees assigned projects; provides information and assistance to City departments and the public; and performs other duties as assigned.
The incumbent in this classification reports to the Public Works Director and works closely with department heads and City Manager and is responsible for ensuring that production goals are identified, scheduled and attained in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to the work and to the work group. Responsibilities also include periodically evaluating overall division progress and making, or recommending, budgetary, program, organization, and personnel changes. The work includes considerable coordination and communication with other City work units, outside agencies, contractors, the general public, and assigned personnel.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, landscape architecture, construction management, or other relevant degree.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Reading-complex, writing-complex, memorization, analyzing, perception, comprehension, judgment and decision-making.
Ability to interpret and explain actions to the public, Staff and City Officials.
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Considerable work with the public, Staff and City Officials; verbal contact, face-to-face and telephone.
Some work may require visiting project sites outdoors.
