Project Manager, Lighting Business Development (Statewide)

Position Overview

The Project Manager, Lighting Business Development, is responsible for supporting the growth and expansion of lighting services across the state through proactive business development, relationship management, and project coordination. This role serves as a key representative of the Lighting Services organization and is expected to build strong relationships both within the company and across the communities served.

This position reports directly to Lighting Sales leadership and requires a high level of engagement with customers, community partners, and internal stakeholders to successfully develop and deliver lighting projects.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for lighting services across the state
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and support efforts to grow lighting revenue
  • Engage with commercial, industrial, and municipal customers to promote available lighting solutions
  • Support the development of proposals, pricing, and contracts for new and existing customers

Community & External Engagement

  • Represent Lighting Services within local communities to increase awareness and drive growth
  • Actively participate in community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and economic development groups
  • Establish and maintain relationships with municipalities, developers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
  • Serve as a visible presence for the organization in both formal and informal networking settings

Project Management & Coordination

  • Support the execution of lighting projects from initial customer engagement through completion
  • Coordinate with internal teams including sales, engineering, construction, and operations to ensure successful delivery
  • Monitor project progress and address issues to maintain schedules and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure clear communication between customers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle

Internal Collaboration

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across internal departments
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align on priorities, resources, and customer needs
  • Support coordination of work across multiple groups to ensure timely execution of projects

Customer Engagement

  • Meet with prospective and existing customers to understand needs and present lighting solutions
  • Promote energy-efficient and cost-effective lighting options, including LED upgrades
  • Support a high level of customer service and responsiveness throughout the sales and delivery process

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, project management, or customer-facing roles
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and develop new business opportunities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across a statewide territory

Preferred

  • Experience in utilities, energy, lighting services, or related industry
  • Familiarity with commercial, industrial, or municipal customer environments
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams
