A well-established mechanical contractor based in the New York City metro area is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex mechanical construction projects.

Position Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of mechanical construction projects—from preconstruction coordination through project closeout. The role requires strong leadership, financial oversight, and coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection construction projects from award through completion
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts
  • Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, and owners throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and internal field teams
  • Review construction drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical or construction issues
  • Track project financials including cost control, billing, and change management
  • Oversee project closeout including punch lists, documentation, and final turnover


Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management
  • Background managing projects involving:
  • Plumbing systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project scheduling, and cost control
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors and design teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills


Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on large commercial, public infrastructure or institutional projects
  • Familiarity with public sector projects
  • Experience working in union labor environments
  • Knowledge of project management software such as Procore, Primavera, or similar tools
