Description


Modern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck, is hiring a Project Manager to deliver our work on the east coast. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a dynamic Team that comes with a wealth of industry knowledge, strong work ethic and collaboration. This Team has a lot of horsepower, and they are looking for leadership who brings self-starting energy that will add value on day one. The project will include Signal and Communication design and construction as well as OCS and Track construction. This role will work closely with field operations, oversee and execute the technical, planning, and administrative aspects of the projects to ensure they are completed per the specifications, safely, on time, and within budget. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Financial Management:
Oversee project budgets, approve invoices, process pay applications, and manage change orders and cost forecasting.

Field Engineering:   
Oversee on-site technical support and assist in field layout, coordinating and supporting construction and installation activities. Conduct field walks to verify construction progress.

Planning & Scheduling:
Collaborate with superintendents to develop project schedules, 4-week look-ahead schedules, and monitor progress.

Subcontractor Coordination: Oversee the coordination of subcontractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget.

Risk & Quality Management: Monitor job sites to ensure site work adheres to safety regulations, and quality standards. Review installed work to ensure compliance with contract plans and safety regulations (OSHA), including identifying deficiencies and coordinating corrections.

Document Control & Technical Support: Oversee management of RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure field teams have accurate, up-to-date drawings and specifications. Ensure that new issue drawings are being reviewed and subcontractor inquiries are handled. Ensure project logs are being updated and attend progress meetings.

Cost Control & Quantity Takeoffs: Review tracked quantities and cost coding. Ensure that monthly cost projections are being prepared and approve material procurement.

Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between owners, engineers, government agencies, and the internal construction team. 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


**Please note--Requirements are essential, but preferences have flexibility. **

Education:
      B.S. Degree in Construction Management or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience in related field.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 + years of experience working on Heavy Civil, Systems and/or Rail Transit projects.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager on Heavy Civil, Systems and/or Rail Transit projects.
  • Practical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and plans.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
  •  Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills. 
  • Management of RFI and Submittal creation and tracking.
  • Proficiency in Construction Management Software: Primavera P6, and Bluebeam.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suites and Teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel for project needs, corporate events and trainings.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License in good standing.

PREFERENCES
  • Procore, HCSS, HeavyBid and AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
