Industrial Pro Recruiting is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join an established and growing engineering and design organization in the Winston-Salem area.
This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with strong land development and site civil experience who is ready to take ownership of projects from initial proposal and design through permitting and construction.
The Project Manager will oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, technical design, client communication, and coordination among internal design teams, outside consultants, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage civil/site development projects from proposal through design, permitting, and construction.
- Lead the preparation and production of construction plans for commercial, industrial, multifamily, mixed-use, healthcare, and other development projects.
- Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate engineers, designers, survey professionals, permitting personnel, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Oversee site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, utilities, and related civil design elements.
- Coordinate with municipalities, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and review authorities.
- Review engineering drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents for quality and compliance.
- Help navigate zoning, development standards, permitting requirements, and development review processes.
- Attend client meetings, development meetings, and public or municipal meetings when required.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and design staff.
- Maintain strong client relationships and support new project and business development opportunities.
- Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
- Perform limited regional travel as project requirements dictate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum 8 years of civil engineering experience, with substantial site development and design experience.
- At least 3 years of project management, assistant project management, or comparable project leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong knowledge of land development and site civil engineering principles.
- Experience with grading, stormwater, drainage, erosion control, utilities, site layout, and permitting.
- Understanding of municipal and state development codes, engineering standards, and review requirements.
- Experience working with municipalities and regulatory agencies in North Carolina; experience throughout the Carolinas is a plus.
- Strong client-facing, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and hydrology/hydraulic design tools.
