Project Manager - Commercial Construction - Charleston SC

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale commercial construction projects throughout the Charleston, SC market. This role offers the opportunity to oversee complex projects from preconstruction through closeout while mentoring teams, building client relationships, and driving operational excellence.

Description

• Lead the successful delivery of large, complex commercial construction projects from planning through completion.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Build and maintain long-term client and design partner relationships that generate repeat business opportunities.
• Guide clients through preconstruction activities, including planning, logistics, scheduling, and project execution strategies.
• Oversee project budgets, forecasting, contract administration, change orders, and financial performance.
• Lead Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Drive accountability, collaboration, and problem-solving across multiple project teams.
• Review and manage contracts while mitigating risk and protecting project profitability.
• Champion project safety by ensuring all teams develop and enforce project-specific safety plans.
• Mentor and develop emerging leaders while supporting career growth across the organisation.
• Represent the company professionally in client meetings, presentations, and industry events.
• Ensure quality standards, commissioning requirements, and client expectations are exceeded throughout project execution.

Profile

A successful Project Manager should have:

• 10+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects from inception through completion.
• Demonstrated success leading complex commercial projects of increasing size and scope.
• Strong background in ground-up commercial construction.
• Multifamily or residential-only experience will not be considered.
• Stable career history with a track record of long-term tenure and progression.
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence business operations beyond formal job responsibilities.
• Strong client-facing communication and relationship-building skills.
• Deep understanding of construction contracts, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Experience mentoring project teams and developing future leaders.
• Ability to operate as a trusted advisor to owners, clients, and internal leadership.
