Job Summary
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! First and foremost, the position is responsible for taking care of Marines, Sailors and Family Members.
Major Duties
The incumbents responsibility, first and foremost, is to lead by example, to shape and sustain a working environment most conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; creating a positive atmosphere and culture within the Facilities & Maintenance Division and its constituent branches that reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the incumbents essential purpose and focus of main effort.
Assists the Facilities Director in overseeing the management of special projects to include the design process, funding documentation, negotiated change orders, inspections of projects, and insures purchase orders are generated for approved equipment and installation. Reviews and approves drawings and blue prints. Works with Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division Directors on interior space planning, work station layout, vehicle access, and space management. Provides onsite liaison for design and construction of projects to include, but not limited to; fitness centers, child development centers, and other approved military construction projects.
Works with customers to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables; analyzes work to be accomplished in the light of accepted trade practices, pertinent specifications, drawings, and sketches; develops, modifies, and provides input to project plans; estimates labor and material costs from major work requests, engineering plans, and similar information; initiates procurement of material required by job order specifications; prepares detailed job orders for contract solicitation; implements project plans to meet objectives; coordinates and integrates project activities; manages, leads, and administers project resources; monitors project activities and resources to mitigate risk; implements and maintains quality assurance processes; makes improvements, solves problems, and takes corrective action when problems arise; gives presentations and briefings on all aspects of a project; participates in phase, milestone, and final project reviews; and identifies project documentation requirements and procedures. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Four years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and experience in applying the principles, methods, techniques and theories of field engineering as well as all phases of project planning and estimating so as to oversee the management and administration of various construction projects which would be funded with either appropriated (APF) or non-appropriated (NAF) funds. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in engineering or construction management leading to a bachelor¿s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Knowledge of work methods and practices of various building trades to include all phases of the design process, coordination and integration of all construction activities, and judicious allocation of available resources. Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health and environmental regulations. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) policies and procedures is preferred. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
