Job Title: Project Manager (DOT-Focused Construction)

Job Description

This full-time Project Manager role focuses on Department of Transportation (DOT) and transportation-related construction projects, including ground-up building work and railroad-associated initiatives. You will oversee all aspects of assigned projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Responsibilities

  • Manage all financial aspects of assigned projects, including ongoing job forecasting to ensure projects remain within budget and meet financial targets.
  • Oversee and lead pre-construction meetings to ensure a smooth and successful handoff from estimating to field operations.
  • Collaborate closely with prefabrication and design departments to align project requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Set clear goals, expectations, and performance standards for subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of work.
  • Negotiate and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and estimate change orders for assigned projects when necessary, ensuring accurate documentation and cost control.
  • Manage all job closeout procedures, including documentation, punch lists, and final acceptance to ensure projects conclude successfully.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for process and performance improvement on future projects.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and counseling to Project Engineers and Superintendents to support their professional development and performance.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of professional relationships within the construction industry, particularly in the DOT and transportation sectors.
  • Oversee project scheduling, including maintaining and updating schedules to ensure job completion milestones are met.
  • Ensure all work adheres to company safety policies and OSHA-mandated requirements, promoting a strong safety culture on every project.
  • Coordinate and manage construction management activities for civil and transportation construction projects, including DOT and railroad-related work.
  • Review and manage RFIs (Requests for Information), takeoffs, change orders, and other project documentation using relevant project management tools.
  • Work closely with general contractors, rail and transportation stakeholders, and other project partners to keep projects aligned with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in construction.
  • Ground-up building experience.
  • Experience with DOT projects, including Connecticut-based DOT project experience.
  • Civil construction and transportation construction experience.
  • Railroad project experience.
  • Construction management experience, including project scheduling and coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with project management tasks such as change orders, RFIs, takeoffs, and job forecasting.
  • Ability to maintain project schedules and drive projects to on-time completion.
  • Strong ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams.
  • Skill in negotiating and resolving customer concerns.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Projectsight is preferred.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction project management platforms.
  • Experience working with general contractors on large-scale civil or transportation projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a professional network within the construction industry.

Work Environment

This role is fully on site and centers on a major transportation project involving a new platform and station building, scheduled for completion in fall 2027. The standard work schedule runs from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will work in an active construction environment, coordinating closely with field teams, subcontractors, and design and prefabrication departments. The setting involves typical conditions of civil and transportation construction sites, including outdoor work, active rail or transportation corridors, and adherence to strict safety and OSHA standards. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Match is at the discretion of owners. Company Holidays: New Year"s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran"s Day (holiday for all military veterans), Thanksgiving, Day After Thanksgiving, & Christmas (paid after 90 days) Paid Time Off (PTO): After 4 months of employment, full-time employees are entitled to 8 days of PTO. After 3 years of employment, full-time employees are entitled to 13 days of PTO. After 5 years of employment, full-time employees are entitled to one additional day of PTO each year, capped at 18 days. Employees are entitled to PTO on a first come first serve basis
