Position Specific Description

The Residential Solar Field Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical performance, operations, and maintenance (O&M) of a portfolio of residential photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role serves as a key point of contact for customer escalations, manages third-party O&M providers, and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical performance and O&M activities of residential solar PV assets
  • Manage and coordinate third-party O&M providers to ensure service quality, responsiveness, and adherence to SLAs
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and high customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including account management, customer support, and business management
  • Monitor system performance and analyze monitoring/ticketing data to identify trends, faults, and underperformance
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and energy production
  • Coordinate with O&M providers and internal stakeholders to optimize asset performance and uptime
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret performance data to generate reports and actionable insights
  • Provide recommendations for operational improvements, cost optimization, and performance enhancements
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system performance, service response times, and issue resolution

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in residential solar operations, maintenance, or field service
  • Strong understanding of residential PV systems, inverters, monitoring platforms, and common failure modes
  • Experience managing third-party vendors or service providers
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance monitoring tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with distributed generation portfolios
  • Familiarity with SalesForce
  • Knowledge of O&M best practices and performance optimization strategies
  • Background in electrical systems or renewable energy engineering (preferred but not required)

Work Environment:

  • Based in Houston, TX
  • Some travel required
  • Combination of office-based work and coordination with field teams and service providers

Job Overview

Employees in this role assist in the development and execution of plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job coordinates allocation of resources, schedules, and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position participates in all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and facilitates the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Supports due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for project development
  • Participates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
