 We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Project Manager to oversee custom cabinetry projects from post-sale through final delivery. This role serves as the central point of communication between clients, internal teams, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager coordinates multiple projects simultaneously, balancing technical understanding, problem-solving, and strong customer service skills. Travel may be required as needed. 

1. Project Startup

  • Review project turnover from Sales and Estimating.
  • Verify contract scope, budget, finishes, hardware selections, exclusions, and customer commitments.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda.
  • Identify missing information before engineering begins.
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Installation.
  • Develop the project schedule and establish key milestones.

2. Customer & Project Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer after project award.
  • Provide routine project updates.
  • Manage customer expectations regarding schedule and scope.
  • Coordinate project meetings with owners, architects, contractors, and installers.
  • Document commitments and follow through to completion.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a timely manner.

3. Engineering Coordination

  • Coordinate the preparation and review of shop drawings.
  • Ensure field dimensions are received before production release.
  • Track drawing approvals and revisions.
  • Coordinate engineering changes with all affected departments.
  • Manage change orders and ensure revisions are communicated.

4. Purchasing Coordination

  • Coordinate material releases with Purchasing.
  • Monitor long-lead materials and communicate potential schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate approved substitutions with customers and Engineering.
  • Verify procurement supports project milestones.

5. Production Coordination

  • Coordinate required completion dates with the Production Manager.
  • Communicate customer priorities and schedule commitments.
  • Monitor production status through regular updates from the Production Manager.
  • Resolve questions affecting manufacturing by coordinating with Engineering, Purchasing, or the customer.
  • Communicate approved changes that affect production.
  • Identify schedule risks early and work collaboratively to minimize delays.
  • Recognize that production scheduling, labor allocation, and shop supervision remain the responsibility of the Production Manager.

6. Installation Coordination

  • Coordinate delivery and installation schedules.
  • Verify site readiness before shipment.
  • Coordinate field measurements and installation support.
  • Manage punch lists and warranty/service requests.
  • Coordinate replacement parts and field modifications.

7. Financial Responsibilities

  • Monitor project budgets and change orders.
  • Review project costs against estimates.
  • Coordinate progress billing information with Accounting.
  • Assist with collections when necessary.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and communicate them promptly.

8. Documentation

  • Maintain project files.
  • Maintain schedule, RFI, submittal, and change-order logs.
  • Document customer communications and meeting minutes.
  • Provide regular project status updates to management.

9. Project Closeout

  • Coordinate completion of punch-list items.
  • Obtain customer acceptance.
  • Collect closeout documentation.
  • Archive project records.
  • Participate in lessons-learned reviews.

10. Overall Role

  • The Project Manager owns the customer relationship after project award.
  • The Project Manager ensures accurate information flows between all departments.
  • The Project Manager proactively identifies and removes administrative or communication obstacles.
  • The Project Manager coordinates work across departments but does not direct or supervise shop personnel.
  • The Project Manager is accountable for successful project execution while the Production Manager is accountable for production operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Business, Building Science, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of project management experience in cabinetry, millwork, construction, or related trades.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
