Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Project Manager 2 with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 24-month contract with a potential for extension. This is a hybrid position - 3 days a week in office.

Pay:$68.00 - $78.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.


Description:
The Project Manager 2 will develop and manage customer-focused transmission projects for large-scale clients such as technology centers and industrial facilities requiring power capacity of 20 megawatts and higher. This role takes projects from the select gate phase through conceptual engineering, detailed development, estimation, initial scheduling and prepares for implementation at initiate gate.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop transmission-fed projects for large-scale industrial clients requiring 20+ megawatts of power
  • Ensure sufficient scope, detail, and accuracy to support project initiation
  • Develop and maintain accurate and complete project estimates to support decision-making
  • Create and manage adequate project schedules to support planning and implementation phases
  • Conduct site field visits at onset of the project lifecycle (approximately 10% travel)
  • initiate project schedules in Primavera P6
  • Manage project financials and reporting through Ecosys
  • Coordinate with engineers, project control specialists and cross-functional teams to ensure project success


Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have Requirements:
  • 9 years of project management experience
  • Experience with transmission electric utility projects (critical requirement)
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (business or technical field)


Preferred Skills:
  • Master's degree (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with Ecosys financial management system
  • Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and analytics
  • Excel skills
  • Experience with SharePoint lists for documentation and collaboration
  • Background in scheduling (beneficial)

Systems & Tools
  • Primavera P6 - Project scheduling
  • Ecosys - Financial management and tracking
  • Power BI - Reporting and data visualization
  • SharePoint - Documentation and list management
  • Microsoft Excel - Data analysis and reporting


Education Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Acceptable Fields: Business or Technical disciplines
  • Preferred: Master's degree

Travel Requirements:
  • Frequency: Approximately 10% (typically one day per project lifecycle)
  • Purpose: Site field visits for project assessment and monitoring
  • Geographic Area: Durham, NC to Clemson, SC (DEC footprint)
  • Duration: Generally day trips

Driving Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required for site field visits within the DEC service territory
  • Standard utility industry PPE required for site visits (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high-visibility vest). Company will provide specific requirements upon hire.
  • Per Diem - Per company policy for approved travel (primarily day trips, minimal overnight travel expected)

Work Schedule:
  • Type: Full-time, standard business hours
  • Flexibility: Occasional field visits during business hours
  • Remote Work: Hybrid model with technology leveraged to reduce field travel
