Project Manager - Electric Utility Distribution

A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead electric utility distribution projects throughout the South-Central region. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to manage complex utility infrastructure projects while building long-term client relationships and contributing to a growing practice.

The ideal candidate has experience managing electric distribution engineering projects from planning through construction support and enjoys working directly with utility clients, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple electric utility distribution engineering projects from initial planning through final project completion.

• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and overall project execution.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service and successful project delivery.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional services and repeat business.

• Prepare project proposals, support presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.

• Monitor project financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, change management, and risk mitigation.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.

• Oversee project communications with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.

• Ensure projects comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality assurance procedures.

• Support the growth of the engineering team through mentoring, training, and participation in recruiting efforts.

• Travel to client sites and project locations as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering.

• At least 3 years of project management experience leading engineering projects.

• Strong understanding of electric distribution design, construction practices, and utility engineering standards.

• Experience preparing or reviewing distribution design and construction documents.

• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and applicable utility standards.

• Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.

• Proven success developing and maintaining client relationships.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel approximately 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

• Previous engineering consulting experience supporting electric utility clients.
