Columbia, United States | Posted on 02/15/2026The ideal Project Manager has experience running field installation projects and is committed to delivering high-quality results for their clients, as well as experience generating estimates and takeoffs for new projects. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for training and mentoring staff, creating work schedules, providing technical assistance, and troubleshooting system issues when needed. You may also be required to provide more direct support to an on-site electrician crew. To ensure success as a Project Manager, you should exhibit strong leadership skills, have a sound knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems, and understand the basics of project estimation and job costing. A top-class Project Manager will ensure that allelectrical work on site is completed on time and to code.Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:Providing motivation and assistance when necessary.Inspecting and assessing the work done by the electrical staff.Reading and interpreting design schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems.Overseeing multiple Electrical Foremen and projects in different locations simultaneously.Manage material orders and subcontracts throughout a project's lifespan.Overseeing the purchasing and maintenance of electrical equipment on-site.Ensuring the work is completed on schedule and to code.Consulting with owners, contractors, architects, and other workers on-site.Works with all employees to ensurecompliancewith quality standards, equipment safety, and safe work rules and regulations.Execute basic project pricing and estimating functions.Requirements Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:Use of tablets and required work order-project management software.Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs – Word, Outlook & Excel.Experience in Sage 100 Contractor – encouraged but not required.Certifications and LicensesA valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.Electrical Master License - encouraged but not required.OSHA 3070E trainingLift trainingPhysical Requirements:Manual Dexterity and Physical StrengthStanding for extended periods of time.Working with metal parts requires the ability to hold parts steady andgood handcontrolto manipulate small objects.You will need to have good vision to thread fittings, read small gauges, and interpret blueprints.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: • Proven work experience as an electrical supervisor or Project Manager.• Strong leadership and managerial skills.• In-depth knowledge of commercial electrical systems.• Excellent communication skills.• Familiarity with state electrical and safety codes.• Advanced troubleshooting skills.• Basic computer skills.Education / Experience Required:• Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in electrical management, engineering, or a related field, and/or Extensive experience in the electrical trade, and 5-7 years' experience as a project manager in electrical contracting.Summit Talent Strategies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
