Department: Administration, LIRR

Location: 420 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10170

Position Title: Project Manager, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)

Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate) $21.00 (Graduate)

All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:

Long Island Railroad (LIRR) - Special Projects department manages the planning, design, construction, and implementation of the project for the benefits of our customers from their inception to successful completion, while adhering to the specific project's scope, schedule and budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring and reporting Progress.
  • Document and Review Comment Collection and Distribution.
  • Meeting Minutes with BIC Follow-up.
  • Monitoring and Reporting.
  • Participating in Safety Classes.
  • Conduct field visits.
  • Assist in producing and analyzing project budget/estimate.
  • Assist in developing procurement.

PROJECTS:

  • Sustainability and Resiliency
  • Penn Station Access
  • ERT Rehabilitation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Business Management, or related field.
