Quality Control Project Manager - Data Center Campus

Job Description

This role focuses on leading quality control and inspection documentation for a four‑building data center campus in Frederick, MD. The Quality Control Project Manager oversees project controls and documentation on behalf of a major cloud provider, driving best practices across design, construction, and operational transition. The position requires strong data center construction experience, expertise in Primavera P6, and the ability to manage RFIs, change orders, and submittals while aligning with rigorous quality, cost, and schedule standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all quality control and inspection documentation for a four‑building data center campus, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Implement best practices and innovative project management approaches that improve efficiency in design, construction, and operational transition processes.
  • Ensure adherence to established standards for quality, optimal cost structure, and on‑time delivery, and integrate these standards into the overall project framework.
  • Act on behalf of centralized internal owner teams to support project‑level schedule and cost controls, providing reporting that aligns with owner requirements.
  • Manage and track RFIs, change orders, and submittals, ensuring timely processing and clear documentation throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with ownership teams, construction partners, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and keep the project on track.
  • Utilize Primavera P6 to develop, maintain, and update project schedules, and to support schedule analysis and reporting.
  • Work on multiple programs concurrently, balancing priorities and resources to achieve successful delivery across all assigned initiatives.
  • Adapt responsibilities as needed to support successful program planning and execution, maintaining a flexible and collaborative mindset.
  • Support cost control efforts by monitoring changes, documenting impacts, and contributing to budget and forecast reporting.
  • Contribute to the operational transition process by ensuring that quality documentation and project records support handover and long‑term operations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify risks, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement in project execution.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3 years of data center project experience, with direct involvement in construction or quality control activities.
  • Experience as an owner's representative or similar role, representing the interests of the project owner on large commercial construction projects.
  • Hands‑on experience handling RFIs, change orders, and submittals, including tracking, documentation, and resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with ownership teams and key stakeholders regarding project issues and progress.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 for project scheduling, updates, and schedule reporting.
  • Experience in commercial construction environments, preferably with electrical and data center infrastructure components.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating multiple concurrent programs.
  • Ability to maintain cost and schedule controls and produce accurate, timely project reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in large‑scale data center campus projects is highly beneficial.
  • Construction management experience, including familiarity with design, construction, and operational transition phases.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for data center construction and quality control.
  • Comfort working within established quality, cost, and schedule frameworks set by major technology owners.

Work Environment

This role is 100% on‑site at a data center campus in Frederick, MD. The position is structured as a 12‑month contract‑to‑hire opportunity, with potential for extension beyond the initial term. The work environment is a large, active construction and data center setting, requiring regular coordination with construction teams, owner representatives, and technical stakeholders. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $156000.00/hr.
