Project Manager – Gas Transmission
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly driven Gas Transmission Project Manager to lead and oversee natural gas transmission pipeline projects from initiation through completion. This role is responsible for managing project execution, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, client relationships, regulatory compliance, and field operations associated with large-scale gas transmission construction and maintenance projects.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, deep utility and pipeline construction knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects across various geographic regions. This position requires frequent travel of 50% or more to project sites throughout the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all phases of gas transmission pipeline projects including planning, execution, monitoring, closeout, and client turnover
Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and overall financial performance to ensure profitability and operational success
Coordinate with field operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to ensure project milestones are achieved safely and efficiently
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, OSHA, DOT, PHMSA, and environmental regulations
Oversee project documentation including contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, permits, daily reports, and billing activities
Conduct regular project site visits and safety audits to ensure adherence to company safety standards and operational excellence
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, utility owners, municipalities, inspectors, and stakeholders
Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and executive reporting related to project status, risks, and mitigation strategies
Collaborate with estimating and business development teams on project pursuits, proposals, and bid reviews
Identify and resolve project challenges proactively while minimizing operational disruptions and financial exposure
Support workforce planning, staffing coordination, and performance management for assigned project teams
Ensure quality control measures are consistently maintained throughout all phases of construction and restoration activities
Drive a culture centered on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
Minimum of 5+ years of Project Management experience within gas transmission, pipeline construction, utility infrastructure, or heavy civil construction
Strong understanding of gas transmission systems, pipeline construction methodologies, integrity programs, compressor stations, and utility operations
Experience managing large-scale transmission projects with multi-million-dollar budgets
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple active projects simultaneously
Knowledge of DOT, PHMSA, OSHA, environmental, and utility compliance standards
Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and project controls
Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project scheduling software, and construction management platforms
Ability to travel 50% or more based on project demands and operational needs
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting interstate or intrastate gas transmission projects
Knowledge of hydrostatic testing, pipeline integrity, HDD operations, compressor stations, and tie-in activities
PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred
Experience working with utility owners, EPC contractors, or large infrastructure organizations
