Project Manager

Overview

This role specializes in machining, fabrication and is responsible for driving sales, providing technical expertise, and developing customer relationships to promote and sell precision machining and fabrication services. This role bridges the gap between engineering and sales, ensuring clients receive optimal solutions tailored to their manufacturing needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development

• Identify and generate new business opportunities in industries requiring machining and fabrication services (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial equipment).
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their technical requirements and offering appropriate solutions.
• Prepare and present sales proposals, quotations, and contracts tailored to customer needs.
• Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve company sales targets while ensuring profitability.

2. Technical Expertise & Customer Consultation

• Understand client specifications, blueprints, and manufacturing requirements to provide accurate solutions.
• Work closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness of proposed solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on materials, machining processes (CNC, milling, turning, grinding, etc.), and fabrication techniques (welding, sheet metal work, etc.).
• Address technical inquiries, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend process improvements for clients.

3. Project Management & Coordination

• Oversee the transition of new projects from sales to production, ensuring accurate communication of customer requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery and quality control of manufactured parts.
• Monitor project progress, ensuring alignment with client expectations and resolving any issues that arise.

4. Market Research & Strategy

• Stay updated on industry trends, new machining technologies, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
• Analyze customer feedback and market demands to refine sales strategies and improve service offerings.
• Participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry networking events to enhance brand visibility and establish connections.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and project status using CRM tools.
• Provide regular reports on sales performance, forecasts, and market insights to management.

• Successful Project Completion: Your goal is to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets the defined scope and quality standards.
• Team Leadership: Project managers assemble and lead project teams, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and fostering collaboration among team members. They motivate team members, resolve conflicts, and ensure everyone is working towards common project goals.
• Stakeholder Satisfaction: Ensuring that the project meets the expectations of key stakeholders, including clients, team members, sponsors, and end-users, is crucial. Keeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle is essential for their satisfaction.
• Effective Communication: Facilitating clear and timely communication among team members, stakeholders, and other relevant parties is essential for project success. Ensuring that everyone understands their roles, responsibilities, and project goals can help prevent misunderstandings and conflicts.
• Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and managing risks throughout the project lifecycle is critical. Your goal is to minimize potential threats to the projects success and capitalize on opportunities that may arise.
• Resource Management: Effectively managing resources, including human resources, finances, materials, and equipment, is essential for keeping the project on track and within budget.
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the project delivers the desired outcomes with the expected level of quality is vital. Implementing quality assurance processes and conducting regular reviews and inspections can help identify and address any issues promptly.
• Adherence to Schedule and Budget: Monitoring and controlling the project schedule and budget are essential responsibilities. Your goal is to ensure that the project stays on schedule and within budget constraints while making necessary adjustments as needed.
• Continuous Improvement: Reflecting on lessons learned throughout the project and implementing improvements for future projects is crucial. By identifying what went well and what could be improved, you can enhance your project management practices and deliver better results in the future.

• Oversee fabrication of equipment ensuring quality.
• Oversee installations while coordinating internal and external resources.
• Manage multi-project teams for both IXL and Facilities and delegate tasks.
• Cross functional leadership of project team.
• Proactively assess project risk for delays, scope, budget, ect.
• Communicate project requirements, details, and updates to project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Solid Works, Auto CAD, Microsoft Office.
• 3-5 years of experience in an engineering and or project management field.
• Solid Works and Auto CAD experience not required but preferred.
• Ability to influence without authority, successfully guiding teams through project completion.
• Proficient in risk and stakeholder management with a solution driven mindset.
