Job Description

The County of Los Angeles (County) Department of Public Health (Public Health) recognizes the crucial role schools can play in fostering health education and skill development that empowers youth, creating healthy and safe spaces, providing access to health-related goods and services, and developing and implementing policies to support a healthy school community. Healthy Schools LAC Project will support schools and build the capacity of education partners to incorporate public health strategies and improve students’ connectedness. Healthy Schools LAC Project will also allow Public Health, education agencies, community, and government partners to collectively support student health, well-being, and academic achievement using a multi-tiered approach involving broad strategies at the school district level and programs tailored to individual school communities, including Health Schools Partnerships and the Healthy Schools Advocate Program. The goal of the Healthy Schools LAC Project is to strengthen the relationship between Public Health and local education agencies by increasing opportunities for Public Health and local education agencies to build trust and work collaboratively to positively impact students, support schools, and build capacity within school communities to improve school connectedness and address public health issues.

Under the Healthy Schools LAC Project Initiative, the Project Manager  oversees the project and manage programmatic staff.

This is a full time, benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health. 

The pay rate for this position is $110,000 annually

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Oversee the Healthy School LAC Project and act as the central point of contract with Public Health
  • Provide fiscal and administrative oversight of funds, including stipends by monitoring budget allocations and spending, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance.
  • Execute subcontractor agreements between the local education agencies and Public Health.
  • Participate in meetings with Public Health, as needed to discuss updates and or concerns
  • Ensure quarterly reports and final reports are provided to Public Health, in accordance with the requirements.
  • Monitor Subcontractors compliance with funding requirements, as well as any other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Address all fiscal and contractual matters related to the Contract and Local education agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with all Heluna Health policies
  • Works closely with assigned Heluna Health Contract and Grant Manager, Project Accountant, and HR Generalist to ensure that the contract stays in compliance.
  • Serves as a liaison between HQ and Client/Program Partners.
  • Other Duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in the last 10 years managing and reporting on grant funds or fiscally sponsored projects.
  • One year of experience in the last five years managing the disbursement of stipends, cash or gift cards incentives or similar funds.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the work of Public Health preferred though not required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated experience working with education agencies or similar organizations.

Other Skills, Knowledge and abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and abilities.
  • Experience in developing and conducting presentations to multiple partners and large and small groups.
  • Competence with computer and application skills, including Outlook, Adobe Acrobat DC, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of Access and Tableau, desired.
  • Ability to actively participate in and contribute to internal and external meetings, collaborations, and coalitions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize and direct projects to successful completion.

Certificates/Licenses/Clearances 

  • Successful Clearance of Live Scan Process
  • A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or ability to secure timely transportation.
