Location: New York City (Five Boroughs)

Compensation: $160,000 – $210,000 (Based on experience) + Comprehensive Benefits

Relocation: Assistance available for candidates with specific NYC agency experience.

The Mission

Direct the future of New York City’s infrastructure. As a Heavy Civil Project Manager for one of the region's most respected contractors, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle and financial outcome of high-visibility projects. From managing vertically integrated estimating efforts to leading a staff of up to 10 professionals, you will ensure that complex utility, sewer, and roadwork projects are delivered with technical precision and strong profitability.

Key Impact Areas

  • Financial Mastery: Perform high-level revenue and cost forecasting. You’ll work with estimators and project controls to ensure the "bid-to-build" process is seamless and margins are protected.

  • Complex Project Oversight: Lead document control, procurement, and engineering pre-planning. You’ll manage submittals, RFIs, and quantity tracking while identifying and resolving technical conflicts before they hit the field.

  • Agency Partnership: Serve as the primary point of contact for NYCDDC, NYSDOT, and NYCDOT, fostering long-term relationships through transparency and professional delivery.

  • Field & Team Leadership: Support field superintendents and foremen to maximize crew productivity. You will be responsible for the growth of your team, including hiring, performance reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers.

  • Safety & Quality Integrity: Administer corporate safety initiatives and quality requirements, ensuring every self-performed and subcontracted operation meets the highest industry standards.

Who You Are

  • A Proven NYC Leader: You have spent at least 15 years managing heavy civil projects in the Five Boroughs. You aren't just familiar with the agencies; you understand their specific standards and protocols.

  • A Large-Scale Specialist: You have successfully managed at least one project valued at $75M+, proving you can handle the intensity and administrative rigor of large-scale builds.

  • A Technical Expert: You have a deep understanding of utility work, waste/stormwater, and watermain construction, supported by a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive project management experience in heavy civil general contracting.

  • Track Record: Must have led at least one project exceeding $75M.

  • Regional Knowledge: Deep experience with NYC agency projects (DDC, DOT).

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Certifications: Valid OSHA 30 and a valid Driver’s License.

  • Skills: Expert-level command of budgeting, scheduling, contract negotiation, and MS Office.
