About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained in an effective, cost-efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner. About the Position

Second-level Project Management Coordinator located in the Construction Utility and Permitting Division, responsible for developing, administering, and monitoring parts or components of agency projects. Employees are responsible for assisting in project planning, monitoring the operation of program activities, and supervising project goals and objectives. Responsibilities may include assisting in scheduling, reporting, controlling, and evaluating functions associated with projects; monitoring and reporting project spending; and coordinating the activities of the project team. At this level, employees analyze administrative problems and recommend needed regulations, policies, and procedures for the proper administration of projects. Responsibilities may include preparing and administering proposals, contracts, grants, and agreements related to specific programs or projects of the agency. - The preferred applicant will be able to perform the following: • Read, evaluate, and interpret technical documents and design drawings. • Understand and follow applicable Federal, State, and local rules, regulations, and standards. • Make sound technical decisions, even with incomplete or conflicting information. • Use enterprise data and technical software effectively. • Pursues ongoing professional and technical development. • Applies technical knowledge and demonstrates proficiency in relevant areas. - The employee will be an MDOT liaison with agency divisions, outside organizations, and the general public. The candidate will have the following responsibilities: (1.) Support utility relocation activities within assigned MDOT Districts. (2.) Ensure project data and information are maintained in agency applications. (3.) Support the District program personnel within assigned MDOT Districts (4.) Duties as assigned by the State Utility Engineer.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
