Be Part of Powering the Future of Energy

Join a global leader in electrification and energy technology, where your project leadership directly shapes the delivery of critical equipment projects that power industries and communities. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy, risk management, and cross-functional execution — driving real impact on cost, schedule, and project outcomes.

Position: Project Manager III
Job Type: Contract to hire
Location: Schenectady, NY
Pay Range: $70.85/hr

Job Overview

As an Internal Project Manager (IPM) for Equipment Projects, you'll be a key leader on the Project Team — responsible for proactively managing risk, driving cross-functional mitigation plans, and ensuring change management discipline across complex equipment delivery projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on bringing structure to complexity, building strong cross-functional relationships, and keeping high-stakes projects on track.

️ What's the Job?

  • Lead weekly IPM meetings with Project Team members to review cost and schedule risks/opportunities and identify mitigation action plans
  • Drive specific mitigation efforts for cost and schedule risks by working with functional owners — through standing meetings and ad-hoc sessions for complex or stuck issues
  • Escalate to leadership when additional support is needed and provide regular updates to the PM & CM
  • Support the PM & CM with the latest risk action plans, flowing cost and schedule variance data into Daily Management reviews
  • Support the Cost & Schedule Core Team in coordinating Commitment Meetings — covering baseline, targets, forecasts, and risks with the Project Team and supporting functions

✅ What's Needed?

  • Strong project leadership experience managing cost, schedule, and risk on complex equipment or industrial projects
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional mitigation efforts and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfort leading meetings, escalating issues appropriately, and communicating clearly with project and commercial leadership
  • Experience with risk & opportunity management and change management discipline
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to set up and lead ad-hoc problem-solving sessions
  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule (M & F remote, T/W/Th onsite) with up to 5% domestic travel

What's in it for Me?

  • The opportunity to work on high-impact equipment projects within a global energy technology leader
  • Direct exposure to senior project and commercial leadership
  • A collaborative, cross-functional environment with real ownership over risk and mitigation strategy
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Competitive hourly pay rate
