The Project Manager III leads complex, cross-functional product and technology initiatives within an AI-enabled SDLC. This role sits at the intersection of delivery leadership, engineering operations, and product operations — driving predictable, high-quality delivery while upholding governance, customer focus, and business alignment.
At the PM III level, this role is expected to own and lead across the core PM skill areas — designing multi-project delivery plans and risk frameworks, managing executive stakeholders, setting backlog and delivery standards, defining program-level KPIs, driving AI adoption and Technical Excellence reviews, and developing PM capability across the function. Stakeholder management sits at the center of the role, supported by workshop facilitation and coaching that bridge both engineering and product teams.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with Development Managers to design multi-project delivery plans — dependencies, buffers, and critical path — and coach other PMs on planning quality and cadence.
  • Design risk frameworks and RAID practices for complex programs; identify systemic risks that extend beyond a single project.
  • Design change governance and scope-control processes; influence stakeholders to prioritize and communicate the impact of change on timeline, budget, and scope.
  • Manage capacity across multiple teams and contribute to annual planning; manage multi-project budgets by tracking Jira Product Discovery (JPD) items and supporting Development Managers and Directors.
  • Define backlog standards and coach PMs and POs on backlog quality; resolve conflicting requirements across teams and stakeholders.
  • Define program-level KPIs and reporting cadence — including delivery, Technical Excellence, and AI cost metrics — and connect delivery metrics (velocity, cycle time, release frequency) to product business outcomes in stakeholder and CLT reviews.
  • Manage executive stakeholders — building coalitions across organizational boundaries, structuring complex narratives, and representing the PM function to C-suite and governance forums.
  • Design and lead complex workshops (planning, refinement, retrospectives, discovery, EBA); coach junior and mid-level PMs on facilitation and embed a coaching culture across the PM team.
  • Integrate AI into team workflows: evaluate tools for fitness and safety, identify high-value use cases, build lightweight AI-assisted workflows, and propose and share new solutions with the PMO community.
  • Drive the Technical Excellence review process for the program area — code coverage, vulnerability remediation, DR capabilities, outage prevention, and AWS cost — designing or improving scorecards and linking results to delivery outcomes such as escape defect ratios.
  • Manage complex, cross-team release planning; design dependency governance and negotiate trade-offs across competing delivery timelines.
  • Partner with Product Managers to ensure delivered features address validated customer needs; shape delivery strategy around product lifecycle stage and business performance, and tailor Agile frameworks to program complexity while removing systemic delivery blockers.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years in project/program management, with at least 3 years leading multi-team or cross-functional initiatives in a software product environment.
  • Working fluency in the engineering delivery model — SDLC, CI/CD, sprint ceremonies — and awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Strong facilitation and coaching capability — design thinking, retrospectives, cross-functional planning, and executive alignment sessions.
  • Proven ability to manage executive stakeholders, build coalitions, and represent a delivery function to senior leadership.
  • Experience managing multi-project budgets, capacity planning, and multi-workstream delivery plans.
  • Proficiency with Agile/Scrum delivery and modern tooling (Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Strong data literacy, critical thinking, and systems thinking — able to define measurement frameworks, challenge data quality, and map complex dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into project management workflows, with sound judgment on AI tool quality, risk, and acceptable use.

Preferred
  • PMP, PMI-RMP, CSPO, or equivalent certification; Agile/SAFe certification is a plus.
  • Experience in insurance, insurtech, data services, or regulated SaaS environments, including familiarity with content delivery models and regulatory filing cycles.
  • Familiarity with DORA metrics, Technical Excellence frameworks (e.g., Sonar coverage, DR, outage tracking, AWS cost), and engineering delivery scorecards.
  • Experience using AI tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Notion AI) in delivery workflows under approved licensing.
  • Exposure to product management frameworks (OKRs, Jobs-to-be-Done, personas and journey maps, product lifecycle management) and working knowledge of UX/UI principles.
