A leading Texas electric utility is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Large Construction & Maintenance to support medium to large‑scale, high‑profile construction and maintenance projects. This role sits within a dedicated Large Construction Project Management organization and is responsible for leading complex projects that directly impact system reliability, safety, and infrastructure performance.


Position Overview


  • Position may be filled at the Project Manager I or Project Manager II level
  • Final level, scope, and compensation determined by experience and qualifications
  • Candidates may be based in Texas City, TX or Lewisville, TX
  • Occasional travel required


Compensation & Benefits


  • Base salary: $85,000 – $190,000+, depending on experience

Position Summary

The Project Manager plans, develops, coordinates, and directs all

phases of medium to large‑scale construction and maintenance projects.

The role is responsible for project scope, cost, schedule, and resource

coordination while ensuring compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate construction management processes.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Project Manager I

  • Support delivery of medium to large‑scale construction projects
  • Assist with implementing and improving the Construction Management Process (CMP)
  • Coordinate project scope, schedule, cost, and resource deployment
  • Lead internal and external project meetings
  • Support integration of safety, environmental, and reliability initiatives into project delivery
  • Track and report project performance metrics and variances
  • Conduct performance, cost, and scheduling evaluations using established project management techniques
  • Support special projects and additional assignments as required

Project Manager II

  • Lead delivery of large, complex, and high‑visibility construction projects
  • Own execution of the CMP across large construction initiatives
  • Direct internal and external teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Forecast, validate, and report project performance metrics to senior leadership
  • Apply advanced and innovative project management techniques
  • Develop and implement system and process improvements related to large construction projects
  • Serve as a senior project management resource and advisor


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Project Manager I: 3–5 years of experience in construction, operations, or project management
  • Project Manager II: 5–7 years of experience in construction, operations, or large‑scale project management
  • Valid driver's license meeting company requirements


Strongly Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following experience is strongly preferred and will support faster ramp‑up and success in the role:

  • Experience managing large capital construction projects in the electric utility, power delivery, or energy infrastructure industry
  • Familiarity with working in regulated environments and adhering to safety, environmental, and reliability standards
  • Experience managing projects involving electric transmission, distribution, substations, or major utility infrastructure
  • Prior exposure to formal Construction Management Processes (CMP) or structured utility project governance
  • Experience coordinating work around energized facilities or critical infrastructure
  • Background working with regulatory and industry standards such as OSHA, NEC, NESC, ANSI, or IEEE


Preferred Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Six Sigma certification preferred (strongly preferred for Project Manager II)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • One role level may be subject to NERC CIP cybersecurity standards
  • Successful completion of background checks and personnel risk assessment required
  • Cybersecurity training required prior to access and annually thereafter
